1. Where are the open enrollment classes held?
Throughout the USA in major cities. From time to time we do hold these classes in other countries such as Australia and Canada.
2. How many people can attend the open enrollment class?
Depending on space, most often ~30 people attend.
3. Who attends?
We tend to have a diverse audience both in experience, education and job description. Therefore we assume no one has extensive knowledge of the science nor the development/regulatory process. We have C-level executives to manufacturing shift-workers; new to the industry to those who have been in the life sciences for many years all in the same class. This mix of backgrounds tends to work best as everyone has something to contribute and learn.
4. What time does the class start? End?
The doors are opened at 8:30am and the class begins promptly at 9:00am. There are breaks throughout the day and an hour lunch. Classes end at 4:30pm.
5. Do you send out course materials prior to the class or do we get them when we arrive at the class?
No materials are sent to participants prior to the class. Upon arrival to the class all materials will be passed out to each individual.
6. Do we have to do pre-work prior to the class?
No pre-work is assigned.
7. What sorts of training materials do you provide?
We provide a customized spiral workbook specific to each class. The workbook includes all presented slides and each slide’s “Take Home Points” so you can focus on and retain the most important information. All labs, activities and case studies are included in the workbook. Participants work in pairs to complete all labs and activities. Some workbooks will include a glossary of biotech terms and other will include a list of commonly used acronyms.

8. Do you provide refreshments and snacks? Breakfast and lunch?
BioTech Primer provides coffee and water throughout the day and a box lunch for the afternoon meal. We do not provide breakfast. We regret that we cannot accommodate those with food allergies as all of our meals are catered and we cannot guarantee the catering facility is free form allergy causing agents. In most cases we can provide vegetarian or vegan alternatives. Please contact us with any dietary questions.
9. Who are your instructors? What is their background?
Our instructors are dynamic, industry experienced subject matter experts. In fact this is what sets us apart from other training organizations- our instructors! Anyone can “learn the presentation”- but our instructors can handle your most difficult questions. Anyone can stand and read off the slides – but our instructors are engaging and edu-tain you with their own personal war stories. Each of our instructors has extensive industry experience, which is vastly different from those who have only taught or done research in a university.
10. Do I get a certificate for attending?
Each participant gets a Certificate of Attendance.
11. Do you provide credit hours?
Receive Credentialing Maintenance Credits from American Biological Safety Association (ABSA) with any of our biosafety trainings.
12. Do you provide training for the individual internationally?
We do provide open enrollment training internationally. Please check our list of upcoming classes. If you are unable to find an international class consider taking our 8-hour BioPrinciples Online course, which is equivalent to our 2-day BioBasics course. Or mix and match our online courses for your own customized training. The on demand training is available wherever you are located as long as you have an internet connection.
13. Do you provide discounts?
Most open enrollment classes are done in conjunction with a partner; most partners are membership organizations. Discounts are extended to members of that specific partner for that specific training.
We provide discounts for companies who send 5 or more registrants to one class if they are not members of the partner organization.
14. Do classes sell out? Are classes ever canceled?
Classes do sell out, so if you want to attend sign-up early. From time to time we do cancel classes because of low attendance. Prior to making flight arrangements, please contact us and inquire if the class is in danger of being cancelled. We do not refund any travel costs due to course cancellation.
15. What is your refund policy?
We do not refund purchases. However, if you cannot attend, you may send someone from your organization in your place by notifying us no later than one week before the start date of the class.
