Scholarships

We know that women and minorities in STEM fields have been historically underrepresented, so we’re establishing a scholarship to help support these students in their academic pursuits.

2022 breakthrough scholarship

Biotech Primer Inc. is proud to announce the first-ever Breakthrough Scholarship essay competition for underrepresented groups in science and STEM programs. Students who identify as female, or a minority will be eligible to win one of three scholarships up to $1,000 for college tuition and expenses by submitting an original, previously unpublished essay on a topic set by Biotech Primer. The scholarship is intended for all students from high school through the graduate level, with a preference given to women and minorities in STEM fields.

As a leading woman-owned business, Biotech Primer understands how deeply important it is that more people from diverse backgrounds enter STEM professions and has dedicated to providing resources to help more women and minority students breakthrough in the field of biotechnology.

Students are encouraged to submit an essay on why they believe biotechnology will change the future of therapeutics and scientific endeavors. Essays should be no more than 250 words and include a video of 3 minutes or less detailing accomplishments and interests. The first 15 submissions will be evaluated based on conciseness, originality, and willingness to contribute to the field of STEM. The scholarship is open to all American citizens who are high school seniors or who are enrolled in college or university in the United States.

Entrants must be highly academic and committed to STEM pursuits. Students with a GPA of 3.2 or higher can apply. Entries must be submitted by August 1st, 2022, 11:59 EST. Winners will be notified by August 15th, 2022.

Biotech Primer Inc. founder Stacey Hawkins hopes students will take advantage of this scholarship opportunity. Stacey wants more people from diverse backgrounds to rise in the STEM field. “The very best innovations in biotech and life science will spawn out of diversity. It’s important that science and biotechnology fields reflect diversity from the inside out,” she Adds.
